I've done that a couple times and then found a lower price. Maybe a fluke???

Amazon will give you a lower price if it has lowered it. It will also raise the price in your cart if it has raised it in the shop. Amazon raises and lowers prices everyday. Sometimes, it is only pennies. I am sure it is all done by some complicated algorithms.

TrekMogul I am pretty sure that if you monitor prices on something you will see it fluctuate alot during its season. The first and the 15th are peak buying days so prices will ramp up going into them especially if they fall on a friday. Unfortunatly predicting any of this is really difficult because the seller has an incredibly huge amount of data to use. Not to mention things like line average margins (Lower some price to stimulate sales or appear to be low price leaders while raising prices on ther items to make constant the overall margin for the line. Your Giro helmet is great looking , they probably roll prices up regularly so they can then lower them. Discounts are like a jacket, you have to put them on to take them off.

That kinda stuff happens with all retailers, you study the thing for 2 months and the price doesn't change, you buy it, and a week later the stupid thing is on sale.... I don't buy from Amazon, most of the books I read, I like to thumb through first.... Bike stuff, I like to buy from the bike shop...

My experience is totally different - I've been an amazon customer for many years now and have NEVER had to wait 2 weeks or more for any item. Their prices are hard to beat and the customer service is the best, bar none. And complaining about having to pay sale tax now is pretty sad, IMO.

We been amazon shoppers and prime prime for yrs, practically anything you could want delivered in two days or less. Prices are very comparable to any retailer and no driving, lines, traffic, or any other problems associated with shopping, which I hate.
With t the exception of actual bikes all my biking stuff from tools to cassettes, to cables to tires come from Amazon. Including the arrival tomorrow of cycling shoes and cleats.
