plaque in Carotid Artery; any others?

I found out yesterday when my Doctor called. I go in for a follow up Friday.
I went out for my fastest ride yesterday, averaged 14.98 and felt awesome!

I've suspected it but the quick tests the docs have done really didn't show much. However I've notice I'm more susceptible to altitude issues especially I've bent over and raise back up. Might be something else but I have a high level of cholesterol so I'm thinking it could be an issue.

A word of warning - before it's to late............... if you suspect a cardiac problem, of any kind, RUN< DO NOT WALK, to see a cardiac specialist, while you still can.............. And if you don't feel RIGHT, push him/her very hard to find out why.

After being hospitalized for three days, and many, many, many tests, they continued to tell me that there was nothing wrong. Luckily, my Cardiac Specialist listened, and didn't give up. Three days later, they put 4 stents in the left side of my heart, due to a 95 to 99% blockages in 4 cardiac arteries.

A week later, it might have been too late.

No high blood pressure or high cholesterol but had a heart cath in April. The doc put a stent in the mid-LAD artery. Bad family history.
Now I can ride like the wind.

Let us know what your doc decides.

I found out my coronaries are crystal clear. I can eat anything I want. So I do. Now I'm fat. And slow. So be careful with medical testing.

Amen...I kept ignoring chest pain while climbing.

After it got to be too uncomfortable, I went to see the doc. I ended up also with 4 coronary stents, including one for the "widow maker" that was 90% blocked.

I was told the same thing ---- after the ultra sound, and MRA ---- They said nothing was wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Angiogram found the serious problem - thanks to Cardio Docs who wouldn't quit until they found the problem..................

Keep asking questions, as long as you feel "different" than normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is why the American College of Cardiology does not endorse doing Carotid Ultrasounds on Asymptomatic patients. Thanks to that false negative carotid ultrasound you got a dose of dye and radiation from the MRA.
