Fuji bicycle experience?
 

I have been considering purchasing a new bike with Dura Ace 9000. It is a big step financially, but I may pull the trigger this fall. I had about decided on a Scott Addict when a local bike shop that I like told me to wait for the Fuji Transonic with the Dura Ace 9000. It comes out in a few months and is currently being ridden on the Tour de France. I read a couple short reviews and read the factory specs. However, I have not ridden a Fuji and was wondering if any of the riders on this page have experience with Fuji. I know the Transonic is new, but I was wanting feedback on Fuji in general. I have owned and ridden Trek, cannondale, Scott etc., but never Fuji. Also, the price on the Fuji is very atractive as compared to the brands I have owned before.

I'm really happy with my Fuji frameset, but it is a 2003 frame and steel so not really applicable to a new Fuji Transonic. I, personally, wouldn't hesitate to buy another Fuji though.

I've not ridden a Fuji, but they've been around a *long* time, and have a history of making some pretty sweet bikes. I've been mulling over buying a Fuji frame and building a bike up myself.

I'm sure the Addict is a heck of a bike, too. I have a 2008 CR1 and really love it.

Between my wife and I, we have 4 Fuji bikes. Ultegra-equiped road bikes (Roubaix RC and Finest 1.0) and Tiagra/105-equipped CX bikes turned commuters. They have all been great bikes. Would not hesitate to purchase another Fuji.

Another Fuji fan here. I don't know how they do it, but Fuji seems to hit the same quality point at a lower price than the other big manufacturers (Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc.) and still deliver a good product.

I own a 2013 Fuji Sportif 1.1 and have owned Fuji in the past. They make a great bike, and I am planing to buy a Transonic to celebrate my 50th in December. The Oval components on the model I want (Ultegra 11 sp) are excellent, however I automatically replace wheels anyway. I think this one will be worth waiting for - it's a really sexy bike.

According to my spreadsheet, I have 19,657 miles on my '06 Fuji Newest that I bought in '07 as a last-year's model. Admittedly, this is not a high-end bike, but it has served and continues to serve me well. With the addition of a CF bike to my small stable, Ol Fuj is relegated to after-work rides and back-up bike duty. I ride it often. I've had no issues with the Fuj. I've replaced normal wear items such as chain, tires, tubes, bar tape and a bottom bracket.

Fuji Its a Mountain in Japan,a company making film and cameras, and another Bike brand . nothing unique about them .

This guy won the Mount Diablo stage of the Tour of California on one last year, so they must be good.

I would have zero reservations about Fuji Bikes. I own two, Altamira SL, SST 1.3, and both have been great bikes. The SST is as stiff of bike as you will find. The Altamira climbs very well and is a bit more forgiving. For the money nothing is close to Fuji, I have owned most of the "big" race bikes, Cdale EVO, Sworks SL3, Dogma, Cervelo R3SL and Fuji holds there own with any of them. Every bike has strengths and weaknesses but Fuji seems to be dead solid in all areas especially handling. Try one you will not be disappointed.

I had the opposite experience, but I think my Fuji was pretty far down the food chain (Fuji Cross). Is resale value relevant to you? I doubt the used value of a Fuji would track well against a Scott Addict, but that's around here.

Nobody makes mountains like the Japanize. I've recently replaced my entry level Fuji Newest 3 with an entry level Trek 1.1. I loved my Fuji... but honestly think for the few dollars in price some other higher priced brands may be a better value.

[X] brand often offers a series of price points of various models, and the component pick reflects the additional cost of those parts..

A friend is getting into road cycling for the first time and has $1,000 for a bike. My LBS says a Fuji Foubaix 1.3 (AL frame w/105) can be had on sale for around that price. I'm thinking that's a pretty good deal. Other opinions?

My opinion is that's a smokin' good deal.I dealt in Fuji bikes when I had my shop. They were the best build quality out of the box of any of the brands I carried.

Fuji is a world class frame builder. They have advanced operations and build frames on a private label basis.

Lots of brands have migrated to where the costs of building the frames, and assembling and boxing to export, is less ,
disadvantaging Japanese Builders to sell on low price categories.

I doubt they are made in the same place as in the 80's.
