Whats your count?

People give me cycle computers as gifts.I don't even remember buying one.The other day it was time to open one up.I was afraid the gift giver would ask me how I liked it.While I program this device one feature is co2. Does it measure the co2 in the air or how much I'm exhaling. No I'm way off. After reading the instructions under a microscope here it is.

The computer measures how much co2 you are not releasing into the atmosphere by not driving a car.Wow who comes up with this stuff? I'm starting to feel Old.I wasn't aware we should know the co2 count along with average speed cadence and distance.

New thread Did you ride today and what's your co2 count?

I only use the Odometer function .. and then only on cyclo-camping bike tours .. havent put a battery in it for years.

Also 'smart phones' - a zero count..

What about cyclists that carb up at a burrito shop and give Count Flatula a run for his money?

Good grief.

I log my commutes on a Clean Air Campaign site, and it says 1,601 pounds this year.

My count would be 0. I ride for exercise and I doubt I'd exercise while driving down the road if I didn't use the bike for it.

Can't see how it could be accurate. Is there a database of CO2 output for individual cars for me to look mine up with to calibrate the cyclometer? Seems like a really silly metric to be monitoring.

That's methane and hydrogen sulfide. Not CO2. ;)

My VDO computers all display a little wrench and the words BIKE CHECK every several hundred miles. When I see that, can't help but consider stopping and checking fluid levels, etc.

What brand is the computer? Just so I can avoid it next time I am shopping for bike computers.
