Good news!!

The other guy's insurance adjuster called a short while ago and said they would pay 100% on the bike and the iPhone and pay 80% of the medical costs. My health insurance will pay most of the bills so no big deal.
Now its time to go bike shopping. Course I'm off the bike for 3 weeks so no hurry. I cant' ride (including any test ride) until Sept 22.

2015 Cannondale CAAD 10 3??

That is great. But why only 80% medical, they should step up and pay all, not let your insurance cover and give them an excuse to raise premiums.

Great news indeed, Ron, the '15 CAAD 10 are nice looking, they've changed things a bit, more disk brake offerings, the Rival model (old 10 4) is disk only now. The Ultegra 3 model you mentioned seems really nice.

Hmm... Are you sure your insurance wants to pay anything when the other guy was at fault?

Dittoes to the above Good News.

I was seriously injured in a bike accident in 2012, and my beloved classic Bridgestone RB-1 was totalled, but I still had a nice Cannondale Mountain Bike for the winter when I resumed riding. When spring came around I was faced with the happy, but dreaded prospect of shopping for a new bike, That accident made me realize how important cycling is to me, and that much more than half of my cycling lifetime was behind me:

My trusted mechanic said here’s the bike you want, knowing my riding style. Well the MSRP was $8000, but he got it for me at half off.

…Personally, I can afford it, and it was an offer I could not refuse. Cycling is that important to me and I’m fortunate to be able to continue the lifestyle [after a serious cycling accident], so that puts it in perspective for me.

See the above in red. The other guy's insurance is paying.

It will be nice to get a new bike. Sad -- the bike I'm replacing was not quite 4 months old (I bought it 8 May 2014) so it was still new to me.

The check for the busted iPhone 4S came in the mail yesterday. Went to the Verizon store today and picked up a 5S. I'm not a phone junky so don't need a 6 or 6 Plus.
The check for the bike should be here next week. I'm going bike shopping on Tuesday (Sept 23). That's the first day the doc (and my wife) said I can ride. I'll be test riding bikes and hopefully will bring something home, if the bike doesn't have to be ordered.
