Why the extra weight/cargo high over the front wheel?

An Oregon bike without fenders! What's next for TEAGUE -- a canoe made of wire mesh? However, according to their website, TEAGUE has been designing dumb things since 1926.,m which is an extraordinary accomplishment. Only in America is stupid so well rewarded -- perhaps that is one of our problems. I do give them credit for the clever handlebar lock -- maybe they have an engineer on staff.

I personally wish turn signals would catch on as a near-required bicycle accoutrement! I'm kind of ambivalent about the other features of that bike though...

The bike was created for a design competition. Nothing says it has to be entirely practical. Just cool. I think they hit the mark on that.

^^^+1, its just a design for that competition. This is a well respected design firm and their engineering is top notch, too. Think about the various show cars you see at the annual automobile shows that are only design exercises. Engineering in the US is alive and well, as an engineer, I'll stand behind this statement.

Sure, it's a cool show bike, but I think critical comments are justified by the video's own proclamation of "The Ultimate Utility Bike". If that's what they want to claim, then they shouldn't fuss when that's the way they're judged.

A good bicycle can last 50 years or more. Light and battery technology is currently advancing every few months. It's hard to think integrated lights are a good idea.

To be effective as a theft-resistant u-lock relative to current commercial offerings, that handlebar will need to consist of around ten pounds of hardened steel. What I see in the video could be silently breached with a tubing cutter in maybe twenty seconds.

Unlike every other road vehicle, the turn signals only show to the sides, not the front and back. Exactly what problem were they trying to solve with this?

Their innovative 'flexible storage system' reminds me an awful lot of the Wald basket I had on my bike back in '64. :)

Pretty cool idea (Teague bike) for wet areas like Seattle and Oregon. I like the utility, but at what cost? How much does that bike weigh?
I complain about my 2012 Sirrus commuter weighing 24lbs w/32C tires. I suppose I could put 28Cs on it (I have a pair of Bontragers in the closet).
But my other three bikes are all road bikes (Including a 2011 Sirrus w/25Cs and higher gearing). I don't need a 4th road bike.

A lot cooler than my commuting bike! Lots of creative thinking there, some good ideas, some fluff. Interesting video in any case! Thanks for posting that Vic.

Neat design with a lot of interesting features. I suspect that the 5,000 mile all weather long term reality review won't treat it kindly.
