Just from snow and ice. Temperatures have been way below normal all winter. Whenever they get above average it rains. Overall it sucks

The storm is hitting eastern CT full force. Woke up this morning at 5:30 AM and it was snowing at 2" an hour. Just north of us has 22" already. It's supposed to snow until sometime tomorrow and then we will get a storm on Thursday and another on Sunday. The wind is at 15-20 MPH and blowing the light grainy snow back onto shoveled areas. This really is impressive.

It looks like NYC didn't get hit very hard at all, so oldnslow2 should be fine. Boston, OTOH, is enjoying the full benefits of the storm system.

I'd be staying home, anywhere in the Northeast. Too unpredictable, too much storm.

I got 18" today.

I decided to put my heart rate monitor on and put my Garmin in my pocket. 2.5 hours and 911 calories.

I think i'll take the MTB out for a ride.

Break Out the XC skis , & would be a good time to already have a Fat Bike .

Bruce those pics remind me of all last winter. Our snowfall is below average this year, though. I kinda miss it.

NJ was the storm transition state,

West of the Delaware River got less than an inch

East of the Hudson River got about a foot

me being in the middle about 6 inches

It's been such a mild winter up till now. This is called paying the fiddler. However, if you didn't lose power, this is really nice. Storms like this is why we love to live in New England.

This is what my place looked like this time last year. I think the temps were running in the single digits.

The lowest fence wire showing is at the 2 foot mark, so 'only' about a foot and a half of standing snow. You'll notice, no drifts though.

digging 3 cars out from 33" and raking the roof took a lot of effort and several glove changes. need to pick up some more toe warmers

And.......it's snowing again. This time it's wet, icy crap and we're supposed to get 8-12" of it. This really blows....seriously... it's windy too.

Chicago got 19+ inches over the weekend. 4th largest since records were kept. I'm sitting 200 miles to the south, no measurable snow here. Ill ride tomorrow, temperatures will be in the upper 40's.

Heh-Heh. Great graphic. Don't forget the D-cell batteries. At grocery stores around here, people tend to go for the Milk, bread, eggs (Why?) and D-cell batteries. It's difficult to understand why this is. The great Blizzard of '78 was 37 years ago. So, an entire generation of suburbanites are too young to remember it. So, why the panic at the grocery store?
Anyone with any common sense would surely know enough to have a few food items on hand, as well as batteries, flashlights and lanterns, and at least one battery powered radio. One of the emergency radios that can be hand cranked is perfect.

Or just keep your phone and laptop computers changed (unless you expect a full day of no power).

Or northern Michigan.
