#1 He's asking for the price when it's in the ad.
#2 He refers to the bike as "item"
#3 He's buying it for his female cousin, the bike's a 56cm so she better be 5'11" to 6' tall.

Smells like a scam.

very common craigslist scam. I've sold maybe 10 or so items on local craigslist, and have gotten at least 3-4 of this type of inquiry.

My reply was the ad says cash only!

I get a lot of vague replies to my ads and I'm sure it's just scammers harvesting active e-mail addresses. The scammers collect a large list of e-mails and sell them to companies that aren't above flooding you with spam. I never post my phone number in a ad and screen my replies before I offer my phone number. I don't consider a respondent to be serious until I talk to them. Here's a example of responses I got for a Sony book shelf stereo system that I advertised in excellent condition for 30.00. "Does it work?" "I'll give ya 10" "Deliver it for 15.00?" and the classic from Johnny..."Hey youstillgotsonyforsail il trade you10bucks and a cat or me could cutyou grass or praint your grouge. call me i liketodeal...

Wait a minute! Are you guys implying my $1,384,654 inheritance from my long lost uncle in Nigeria might not come thru?

Listen to your gut. If it doesn't seem legit to you, it most likely isn't.

This is true of any transaction whether it be with CL or some other entity.

Three times this week I've gotten an official-looking email purporting to be from Fed-Ex, claiming that there was a problem with my delivery and providing a link. The 'from' says Fed-Ex, but then after that is a .nigeria, etc. The link is a .zip file, not a routing number. Our secretary at the office got one too, clicked the link, and then asked me to get rid of the virus. :(

Yep. I got that one too. And the virus to go with it.

My gut told me not to open it. But the only reason I did is because I was expecting a package.

Wow, you folks sure are suspicious. I feel sorry for that guy - and his cousin. No birthday present for her.
