Hernia Surgery Recovery
Yippee, cleared to run as of this morning, my first post-surgery 5K is done. 2 more weeks to riding though, the surgeon's concern is the consequences of a crash.
Multiples surgeries Nov-Jan and good to go for my 2015 season, whatever that may be. I post-poned the hernia surgery for years, glad to have it done and the recovery was a breeze. Have a 4 inch scar that is a little sensitive, core work-outs are touchy, but all good. Got out of taking out the garbage for a month, sweet. |
Great to hear you are recovering well! Feels good when they tell you to go for it.

glad all is going well for you...and your return to the garbage detail.

So you opted for the open surgery rather than the laproscopic?
I have an inquinal hernia that I"m planning on getting fixed this summer. I think it's small enough that I won't have to go under the knife, good luck to you. |
Sometimes you don't get an option when the surgeon gets inside. I've been opened up several times and after things were worse than expected, the surgeon made further incisions. I'm happy you are cleared to ride, from experiences, please take it carefully, getting put back in the hospital for a rebuild/rework, or in infection setting in, is not the way to spend your days. I've has 13 major abdominal surgeries, most are to repair herniations and remove scar tissue from the small intestine, hopefully you are finished with the surgeon for good. Prayers for your complete recovery and for many miles of riding now.

Thanks for the well wishes, much appreciate.
Yeah, I thought it was going to be a small scar going in but - surgeon decided otherwise. Dropped into spin yesterday, good fun but my legs are slow and heavy. All and all I guess it's been a three month lay-off. Going to have to rebuild a base and I think I am going to enjoy every minute of that. Not going to enjoy rebuilding the core nearly as much. |
