Longer Effective Top Tube — Which Bikes?
 

I'm looking for a carbon road bike with a 58/59 seat tube and a 60cm top tube under $2,000.

My 2010 Fuji SL-1 stolen a few months ago. https://bikeindex.org/bikes/73434It was 58.5cm, kind of low, overall with the bottom braket having not much clearance with effective top tube of 60cm. I put a 120 stem on it and felt great. Best fitting bike I have owned. I liked the fork angle, too as steering was not too sharp (I lean a lot to steer).

I used this bike for terrorizing the cars, mostly. Wrong way street, sidewalk, etc. I had tough rims on it to deal with that, plus standard no-clip plastic pedals (faster to transition to walking, with no carrying around special bike shoes).

I got a bike to replace that. I'm poor so I had to finance it. Problem is, the bike I got is grinding in my hip. It's uncomfortable inside the hip joint and I don't feel that I am as strong with it as I should be. The bike is a Fuji transonic 2.5, 58cm. The effective top tube is 58cm. We've tried adjusting the seat height and position and we put a 120 stem on it. I don't want a longer or lower stem than what I have now because that's going to put the handlebars out further over the wheel. I want a longer frame.

I want to return the bike I bought but I can't find a good replacement for it.

What's a good carbon road bike with a 58/59 seat tube and a 60cm top tube?

My first thought would be to look around for the same bike 2nd hand. Craigslist etc.

I would think that these days, finding an off-the-shelf carbon frame with that length seat tube (proportional to the ETT) is going to be pretty difficult.
i.e. those kind of close XbyY numbers were from the steel frames of yesteryear, with their horizontal top tubes.

Is that a virtual (as on a compact frame) seat tube or an actual seat tube? I know of no stock 58 or 59 cm frames with 60 cm top tubes.

On the other hand, an XL Giant TCR has a 60.5 cm top tube. You have to take the 20.3 cm head tube, though, and I have no idea what the actual seat tube length is. Giant says you should be at least 6'4" with 35" legs to ride that beast.

Then the 61 cm Felt F4 has a 60.5 cm top tube. Seat tube center to top is 61 cm, though. I'm sure Felt intends that for riders over 6'3", too.
