Candidate for drop bar MTB... sizing help?

Hi All,

I've been scouring craigslist for a drop bar mtb conversion candidate. The general consensus is to either size down (to keep top tube length appropriate) or size up so there won't be much seat post showing. I am a hair under 6 foot and have about a 33 " inseam. According to some size calculators, I should be riding a 19.5 " mtb, which leads me to believe an 18.5 " could be a good candidate. I have one I am looking at in that size range, but this GT Karakoram popped up on craigslist and looks good. Thoughts?

Thank!!

I went one size larger and shortened the reach (stem). This because I have long legs and arms and the saddle would have been way high. A larger frame will get the bars higher in the front, less aggressive.

Thanks Loose Chain, Karakoram ended up being 20" frame. Brought it home and am looking forward to playing with it!
