Sizing question - bike geometry
Hi everyone,
Would you be so kind as to assist me with finding the right size bike? I'm looking at a Large Giant Contend 3 that's on sale right now, but am unsure if that's the right size for me. I'm attaching a picture showing that bike's geometry chart: https://www.mmbikes.com/images/libra...etryChart1.PNG Here are my Wrench Science results: WS Recommended Road Sizes Frame Size center-to-center:54 cm Frame Size center-to-top:56 cm Overall Reach:72.58 cm Saddle Height:74.01 cm Handlebar Width:44 cm Your Measurements Height:73.00 in Sternum Notch:61.00 in Inseam Length:33.00 in Arm Length:26.00 in Shoulder Width:17.00 in Flexiblity:4 Weight:190.00 lbs Foot Size:12.00 US Mens |
The Wrenchscience recommendation of a 56 seems small for someone 6'1", but the Large is a bit longer than a typical 56. Large would be my choice for your body of the options in that geometry chart.

I don't put a lot of faith in the "ideal" frame size. As a full grown adult, I've ridden road bikes from 58cm to 66cm and was able to make them comfortable for me to ride on for long distance or what ever. My inseam is just over 34.5 and i'm only 5' 11" with long arms.
Do you have a previous bike that you are comfortable on? If so, what? and what size? Even if you are going to buy online, at least go down to a shop and try one on for real to see what it feels like. The shop will adjust the saddle height for you and maybe let you ride it some. |
