spd cleat wedges

any one have experience with spd cleat wedges. with my orthotics from my podiatrist, adjusting my cleats ive got my right knee to were it dosnt bother me,but my left knee gives me some fits. from what i can tell my left out side of my foot may need to rotate up some. ive read that the spd wedges since are plastic like to let cleat slide around but work good with the other 3 and for 4 screw models. i would get a road cleat but havent found a shoe that fits right. thanks jason

In my experience, SPD cleat wedges don't work very well because they are small thin pieces plastic and get chewed up by the metal cleats. An old fitters trick is to shape some cardboard to fit under your orthotic inside your shoe. Or you could buy the Specialized wedges that work similarly.

BikeFit offers their VV1 cleat kit, which has the equivalent of 1 wedge built into it:

They also offer in the shoe forefoot and heel wedges that you could use to build it up a bit more:

The in-the-shoe wedges can make a huge difference, although they seem to have some "feel" issues to them - some folks are good with only a forefoot wedge, others don't like it without the heel wedge. If you are willing to come all the way down to Noblesville, I could hook you up - I am a fitter.
