dahon jetstream D8 rack

I have an old dahon jet stream D8 folding bike…was just told by the local bike shop that there aren't any rear racks that fit with the suspension….any options? hoping to use it for city commuting and maybe a trip with panniers. Thanks. Karen

A seat post mounted rack might work for relatively light loads. See Racks and Mudguards.

problem is that you do not have any mounting points for a regular rack
I have one like this on my custom Jetstream
http://www.moruyabicycles.com.au/con...ss-mounted.jpg
mounted in the back
works real ice is real small and is very stable, rugged even ...
BUT
its also very small .. no way to hang panniers

thanks…disappointing information… i was hoping to use panniers in the future…i checked the website and wonder if this might fit? Pack 'n Pedal Tour Rack - Buy Online - MoruyaBicycles.com.au

If your Jetstream has the integrated luggage mount on the head tube, you should consider adding a Kanga rack or other front-mounted luggage. See Dahon Bags and Luggage.

I might be able to find one of these suspension racks ....
these would allow what you are trying to do .. I wouldn't hang 50 lbs of panniers on them ... but they are as stable as you can get with single stays ...
the nice thing is that u can take the quick rack completely off without tools
The seatpost clamp needs a longer bolt to get around the 34 mm seatpost again I might have one

If you use a Brooks saddle, or attach bag loops to a loopless one, you can hang a nice Carradice saddlebag from it. I'm thinking of getting a Jetstream and setting it up that way..trying to sort a rack for it seems more trouble than it's worth.

I'm not convinced. If you bend the horizontal bars, it might fit nicely. (And then again, it might not. :) )

Do you know what Panniers would fit this rack and how much weight could safely be carried?

Have a look at the upgrading a mezzo thread. Their is a seatpost system that takes panniers etc. It's the same as the mezzo rack system.

Clikfit or something. They are on amazon.
