External shift is a Box with a gear rotating the shift sequencing shaft. the cable pulley is rotated by an External pulley directly
rotated by the main cables from the Shifter grip.

Here's pictures : Documentation: www.rohloff.de
https://www.rohloff.de/fileadmin/user...015_03_web.pdf
main 2 cables are common Shift cables , housing common lined Brake type..

The cable routing is via left chainstay, And Downtube (P.Llama heavy rider option, has 2 main frame tubes,
most just that 1 big oval )

EX shift box downwards, straight cable run from chain-stay cable route..

These guys put it underneath.

The Monkey Lab: Monkey Ride: Bike Friday with Belt Drive and Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14

Why did you route it to the alternative position? The cable run looks odd. Have you tried to fold it cabled in such a manner?

EDIT:

FWIW, a quick internet search show it running underneath the quick release on a tikit too.

I understand the concern. But like the bike shop, I think it's largely theoretical given that there are derailer models that rarely suffer damage. This box looks tiny.
