DIY PVC pipe bike stand for a Dahon D7?

I'd like to build/assemble a bike stand for working on my D7. I figure it needs to be different than the standard DIY stands for regular bikes. Does anyone have a good design for a stand using PVC pipes?

Thanks, Reggie

I have a regular Feedback folding stand that works just fine with folders,no reason why it wouldn't. Use Park shop stands at work to set up Bromptons. Even though folders have smaller wheels, you still want them up so you don't have to bend down to work on them. As for DIY,I'd use wood before PVC;a workstand is useless if it can't handle you cranking on the bike in it.

problem with pvc is that it's very light and nowhere as strong as wood and metal. you would need ALOT of pvc to have a big enough base to handle a D7. By the time you are done you'll find out it takes up alot more space than a nice park tools stand. Plus it wouldn't be foldable afterwards either.

Park (or similar) bike stand grabs the seat post of the folder......I do it all the time for a variety of folders. Find used if on a budget. IMO its really the only way you want to go in the long run. Over the years tried all other types, don't waist your time or money. Unlike me. do it right the first time. Save your desire to build and creativity on something besides a bike stand.

So I tried to build a PVC stand and after about $20 in PVC and another 10 for a pipe cutter and 5 for PVC cement, a couple trips to the hardware store and an hour or two of building I built something that didn't work well at all. Fortunately I didn't use the glue so someday I might find a non bike related use for the hardware.

Now I'm in the market for a stand. Man, there's a lot of stands on Amazon. I'd like something that breaks down to a small package when not being used. I don't see myself using it every week. Maybe every couple months at most. So once again I am asking for advice I may not take.... can someone recommend a cheap stand that works for regular and folding bikes.

Love my Feedback,it's had like 1.5k bikes in it from use at my clinic. About 37" long,5" thick when folded,I keep it behind the couch when not in use.

Mine's an older model, but I think it's comparable to the current Ultralight. I remember one of the reasons I picked it was because I didn't have the Big Dummy at the time, and wanted a light stand that I could carry on my back. BTW,the current ones have an easier to use clamp than mine.
