Tire pressure Tern Link D8?

Yesterday i received my tern link d8 in a big box ( http://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bi...choice-d8.html ), after a bit of fiddling i got it drive ready.

It did came with a flat front tire in the box, lucky our local bike shop had 20 inch inner tires on stock, after yet a bit more fiddling (never changed a tire) it is ready. And i already drove a bit.

Even got a "nice bike" comment :)

But i was wondering what the best pressure for the term link d8 tires are?

I'm quite a heavy guy (about 90-95 kg) and i have now set the pressure to 50 psi or 3.5 bar, which seems to drive better compared to how the tire came out of the box.

Bicycle tires usually have inflation information on the sidewall. Sometimes this is expressed as a maximum, and sometimes it is expressed as a range. Our normal advice is to keep the pressure within 5 psi of the stated maximum. That is, if the tire says "40 to 65 psi", keep the pressure between 60 and 65 psi for best overall performance. Lowering the tire pressure usually results in a bit softer ride, if that is you preference. Just don't let the tires get below their stated minimum. Finally, use a tire gauge. For most of us, when a tire "feels" low to one's hand squeeze, it's usually really, really low (less than 20 psi).

For a big guy on a rigid bike I would recommend you stay at the low end of the recommended range...closer to 40psi

Thanks,

FYI: I'm a bigger rider (230lbs right now, winter weight - Lol), and I find riding at the lowest pressure on a tire makes it more prone to getting a flat. I have a Dahon Speed P8, and I do 55-60psi. It's a bit rougher ride, but I don't have to worry about pinch flats, or having the tire compress and damage the rim.

My take,...YMMV.

Inner Tire ? You Mean Inner tube or tire, Its on the Outside.

Best pressure Is Embossed in the Mold that the Tire is Made In .. Read the Tire Itself.

there are BMX Stunt riding tires made to take serious abuse an spec'd to take a High Pressure , by their Casing design.

Wider the tire the lower the air pressure needed because of the greater Volume.

I have Thorn resistant Heavy duty tubes in my 20" wheels all that extra rubber means I dont have to pump it up often.

I have a set of Maxxis M-Tread tires on my Lombardo Power2000, and they're rated at 110psi Max. Rides fast (for 2.1 inch tires), but rides really ROUGH! I feel every pothole & crack at higher pressure.

Cheers! Didn't yet look at the tires close enough to notice the pressure, but i just did and the range is quite broad:
35 to 65 psi
2.5 to 4.5 bar
It seems 50psi or 3.5 bar is close to the middle of the range. Good to know.

I will, when the weather gets a bit better, test with a lower and higher pressure as suggested here. But I'm a bit worried of using even higher pressures cause the tires are already really hard. And with lower pressure the wheels just sound like flat tires.

Air pressure

I've been riding BMX for a while now and noticed a lot of people overlook how much tire pressure affects park performance. It’s wild how a small tweak can completely change how the bike feels. —just thought it might help others dialing in their setups.
