Awkward listing.
Thanks Yan |
Looks like a great way to crush your nuts if you hit something. :(

I'm not clear what the concern is here. It's a Strida copy, which the seller is being honest about. He/her may not know the name of the real thing.

Strida... the enigma of folders.

That actually looks like the genuine Strida. If so, and the seller does not know this, then it could be stolen...

But you have to get used to the awkward position and lack of luggage block in the front. "Strida and Brompton Folding Bikes and FAKES" https://vimeo.com/114490426 |
Looks like it should be in the recumbent threads. Just saying.

Strida has been around for decades. It's good for train commutes on flat land. I had one myself but now use an Oxelo Town 9 kick scooter instead for short rides because it's smaller and lighter. The Strida copies were known for frame failures. The real ones have "Ming cycle" molded into the chainring.

But you have to get used to the awkward position and lack of luggage block in the front. the basic A-frame design of the Strida is what I feel is so odd, compromising and limits it's viability. Modifying and customizing a Strida to better suit the rider seems to be quite an ordeal and limits how the bike can be used and the fact that the more you adjust the seat height to accommodate a taller rider, the more awkward the riding position becomes... which is great if you're into the ergos of a penny-farthing. |
I'm more surprised that there are some here on the folding forum that doesn't sound like they knew what this bike was considering it's been created since 1988! for flat terrain commuting i gotta say its a great bike! you really have no maintenance on it and the brakes stop on a dime. Anyone that says you'll crush your nuts on it hasn't really rode one, I didn't realize when one brakes you let go of all your pedals and handlebars then let everything slide forward! actually someone did crash on a strida in some old video it is instead launched him up into the air ;).
but since this is probably a clone because the ad is soo odd and the owner doesnt know what it really is I wouldn't offer more than $150 for it just to test out. highly likely it's a clone because it's missing strida stickers all over it. |
this thread sparked my interest so I looked up Strida.. like the way it folds and seems to fit in tight spaces. I'd love to check one out re a ride..
