eBrompton Update...
I ventured out to piece together a proper eBike conversion kit.
|
Here it is...
Pieced together from different eBay venders. Only thing I want to add is a proper mount for the controller box. Right now it's strapped in with a universal bottle cage mount and it seems a bit flimsy. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7791/2...99eb5866_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7390/2...f182942f_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7034/2...30337289_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7193/2...29329116_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7729/2...5bb94275_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7190/2...c5c757a8_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7293/2...914f3204_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7488/2...5a5db87a_b.jpg https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7646/2...b26595db_b.jpg |
Pretty cool.
I am curious about the twin rollers on the fender. Do they work well or does the fender flex too much when turning and such? |

What's the brand/manufacturer of the hub?
|
That's amazing! How much weight does the conversion kit add to the bike? How fast will it go in eBike mode, for how much time, and how long to charge? Does it plug into a standard wall outlet?
And how about rain - it looks to me like rain would be a disaster for that setup. Pretty awesome though. You should post some riding pics or videos. |
The Schwartz is strong , on that one..
|
I would love to hear your review of the Add-e. Distance, support, battery life, etc. Seems to be very little information on the web from people that actually use this tech.
It seems the advantage of the Add-e is weight. The standard eBike conversion kits seem to add quite a bit of weight and are not removable like the Add-e. Anyway I would appreciate your comments. |
FWIW, Brompton is going the e-bike route too At least that is what this article says ...

Looks like a fantastic job, beautifully done. Just noticed the very neat IEC socket in the front bag. What's in the bag?

Did you spread the fork, or take some spacers out?

It would be fantastic if you coul list the vendors. I have been very actively considering going this route but lack time. Your help would be much appreciated. |

Ah I thought the battery was on the top tube. Now I realise that's the controller that you mentioned before. I would have put the controller in the bag as well. But... the controller is huge, is that box full of stuff, or can't it be opened?

In previous builds I had the controller and battery inside the bag. But the disadvantages of that is heat and portability. I'll put together a parts list when I can. |

Justin also has Brompton Kits .. check out his videos.. Justin is definitely experienced .. I have one of his low powered front hub kits with torque sensing bb going into a Litespeed Ti road bike as we speak.. As a strong rider, you will flat love a well executed e-assist bike.. especially as a commuter.. higher speeds with less time spent on the road, and less sweat .. excellent cardio if you keep your cadence up too... |
