Folding pedal on older Dahon

I have a Classic III, it has one folding pedal (the one on the outside of the fold). I don't know if more models of the older Dahons have the same pedal--it's plastic and the axle doesn't go all the way through the pedal. A few days ago, when I was standing up to accelerate from a stop sign, the pedal snapped. I went down, of course, but wasn't hurt too badly.

I'm not trying to be alarmist, just something to be aware of for anybody who has a bike with one of these types of pedals.

classic threes differ, some have one piece cranks ,some have three piece cranks with a right side folding crankarm. The ones with a folding crankarm have a substantial brace for the steering collumn.I think the three piece is every bit as heavy as the one piece crank but changing to a larger or smaller chainring should be easier. The good thing with classic threes is that owners can get pedals at walmart if we have to and they are easy to convert to fixed cheaply.I have a classic three converted to single speed fixed.
