. . . but yes, I consider it real expensive (but then, I am considering a velomobile; it is all just a matter of perspectives and priorities).
It's all about personal perspective.

It is fair. The 4 S&S couplers add $1700 to the price. A Rodrieguez has been on my wish list for a while - the Ranier custom, with travel option is just $2700.

$2,700 is still more reasonable IMO. Still, as bikes go, this is a packable bike. I do understand that. Personally, i'd rather go with a Dahon Clinch regardless.

How do couplers work in terms of locking up a bike? Couldn't thief foil a lock/chain by uncoupling a bike?

It is called a 6-pack from Rodriguez Cycles. It is more suited to frequent flying, which she does. But it is a good bike (really expensive, by my standards, but good).
Wow she went all out with that bike. How long to pack and unpack? It looks like it is designed to be nearly completely disassembled.

I just went to the Rodriguez website wow.

The details he has added to several of these bikes are amazing..

Great pictures and tons of great designs.

I'm another that uses a Cannondale Hooligan as a non-folding 20" commuter. My preference is for the non-Lefty variant whilst my wife prefers the Lefty...

Surprisingly good bike fit for both of us - though you may need alternate stems/bars depending on your physique.

I've currently fitted a Blackburn Outpost rear rack after seeing a Cannondale Hooligan Facebook group member's set-up. I'm able to carry Arkel GT30 or Ortlieb Classic Roller panniers without heel strike.

I picked up a Bianchi Merlo MiniVelo here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from a local LBS. I guess it was imported from Japan or Thailand at some point.

I get a few funny looks at the 'Barang' (the slang term for foreigner) on the little bike and my kids think I've stolen it off a child, but it's quite nippy in and out of the traffic and good fun to ride.

I'll look for a traditional tourer for longer rides, but it will do for the city.

I'd throw in the Castro: Castro Bikes | Made and designed in Barcelona

A very beautiful bike. If it fits into the commuter-category probably depends from the commute.

Maybe. You're probably going to put a chain through the chain/seat stay triangle, which doesn't usually uncouple. If you use a Ulock on the top tube you might be vulnerable.

S&S sells a spanner that's used to undo the coupling, but you could probably do it with channel lock pliers if you didn't care about marring the coupler.
