Bike Friday Wheel question
I purchased a Bike Friday New World Tourist from the factory. When I put it together, I noticed that the front wheel had a lugged attachment which did not seem to serve any purpose. I called the factory and was told that this was to be used with a disk brake system. I find this odd, since I did not order my bike with disk brakes. Is it a standard feature now? Or was my order not processed properly at the factory?

The folks at BF are very nice, if you have any questions (even if they seem silly) they will answer them. You really should just call and ask them to explain why they built it that way.

It might be there because of the hub choice you made. In other words it is standard on the hub in your bike was built with. Call them and you will good results. Roger

Is it the wheel or the fork that has the lug? A photo would be handy.
Was the bike purchased new or refurbished?
I've noticed that some Bike Friday bikes outfitted with a single chainring and an internal gear hub also have a front derailleur braze-on which could be handy for future updates, although they don't always include the necessary cable stops to actually use it.
Anyway, I'd probably just consider it as an oddity from their semi-custom building, and just ignore it.
