So $142 fro two wheels is a great deal. It says dis brake, though, and I have rim brakes. Will they work? Can you tell me what specs you ordered so I don't screw it up (but with v brakes)? Obviously you are happy with them - how long have you had them? How long did it take to get them? I just checked danscomp-custom wheels aren't free shipping :-(

With the Chinese wheels you can use calipers or V-brakes or disc brakes all depends on your bike. My specifics are 406 rims 25mm wide, 32h spokes, 100mm front and 135mm rear, Quick Release. Also, freehub for 8+ speed cassette. So, every specific is similar to yours.
I ordered the wheels a few days ago because I had to get them on sale. Today and tomorrow they are again on sale. Once I get them I can share my feedback. I made a lot of research before I was ready to purchase.
The Novatec hubs have cartridge bearings which I can replace myself once they get bad there are many quality options. Also, the hubs are a bit heavier because they have Cr-Mo steel axles which is another plus for durability.

There other retailers on aliexpress if you want rims with machined finish. Search "406 novatec wheelset" you will see a few more options.

Thanks for the specs. I am going to hold off doing anything and would really appreciate you posting back once you have these and can give a review. I will live with the noise until then - it's not going to hurt anything. Every single wheel I've seen that is decent is $115 and up (including a couple slightly used ones) so this is a pretty great deal if the quality is really there. I'm sure they will go on sale again when I am ready, so please post or PM once you've ridden them a bit. I also like that I'm not paying for the cassette since I will use my 7 speed for a while and then use a 9 or 10 speed with a 34t max. Again, thanks!

I guess I missed what bike this was on. The Chinese hubs are 100mm front, I think all the Dahon and Terns use the 74mm front hub. You can see the wear track on the side of the rims indicating they will work for rim brakes.

Can you explain to me how this works? It is just a spacer so the OLD is correct for 135 but you still need a longer axle so that some of the axle is protruding to fit into the dropouts.

135 axles are 146 mm in length, 130 are 141. That 5 mm has to come from somewhere.

Am I missing something here?

Actually, the adapter is only for QR axles and goes over the end of the original QR hub thereby extending it by 5mm.

I emailed to see if this wheel is 135mm or 130mm. If it is 135mm, do you think it would work for my bike? The price is well within my ballpark. $50 on sale plus $20 shipping. Utah Trikes - Rear Wheel - 20in - TerraTrike Freehub - TerraTrike OEM Rim - Silver

Yep, it'll work fine, and that's a good deal from a great shop. I'm 99% sure it's 135, I don't think trikes ever use 130.

Yes, they just confirmed it is 135mm. I ordered it. Really happy to finally get a replacement wheel that I know will fit, that is sturdy. I have a spacer for my 7 speed (which fortunately has 3 rivets so I don't have to notch it). Once my 7 speed cassette wears out, I will upgrade to a 9 speed, I think.
