Need your advice and tips to save the steel frame from spreading rust. Thanks!

A little steel wool or sandpaper to take off the surface rust and then a little paint. You could even use nail polish if you want. It is not something that would worry me. You could always re-install the kickstand the appears that was there before and you wouldn't even notice it.

If you haven't already you might consider protecting the inside of the frame as well. Thoroughly coat the inside with a vegetable based oil such as boiled linseed oil, Boeshield or WD40 and let it dry. You can shoot some in and put the bike in different positions so the oil will flow to all areas. give it a couple of days to dry and your frame will be protected fairly well. A product designed for the job is Weigl frame saver. The outside rust is cosmetically ugly but inside rust can be fairly dangerous.

blakcloud, you are right, the kickstand was there and it caused this paint rub and rust. Will try that nail polish. Thanks.
12boy, thanks for the inner frame protection tip. I will use the available WD40 as you said. The Weigle Frame Saver that you mentioned is not available here in UAE it seems and can not be shipped to UAE if I order online. |
WD40 is fairly accessible everywhere I'd suppose. Cheap, too. The gummy quality when dry is why it's good for this but not so much for chains or other uses.

Thanks 12boy. I just bought this morning 1 big can of WD40. I have one which is almost empty.
