Got another TB in the mail today and slapped it on the Speed P8. I'm not sure it needs it what with the Big Apple tires but I'll give it a go for a while.

Wish the stem was black but it looks okay.

nice! I also have the Speed P8. I second you on the Big Apples. They are great. What fenders do you have on yours? Are those the Dahon fenders? And that rack bag, is that the track/click-in system?

New version.
The new LT Thudbuster on a Dahon specific diameter post. Fits all 16 and 20 inch bikes.

Weight: 922 grams
Length of tube from top to bottom: 51 cm or 20 inches
Diameter: 33.9 mm to fit Dahons
Length of seatpost from bottom of the tube to middle of the rails of the saddle: 65 cm or 25 1/2 inches
Minimum insertion: 10 cm or 4 inches
Comes with 3 pairs of elastomers to dial in the perfect suspension (9 different possibilities!!!)

The BLACK seatpost is no longer butted (smaller diameter) near the top. Allowing you to clamp the Q/R in the all compressed ( folding) position.
Based on a patented parallel-linkage design, the Thudbuster LT provides up to 3 inches of active stiction-free travel. Unlike telescoping suspension posts, there is no initial stiction to overcome. The suspension mechanism works in the direct path of the natural travel of the rear wheel.

The LT gives you a max extension of 55 cm or 21 inches (within safe insertion to the frame a bare minimum of 10 cm or 4 inches)

Thanks for the reply. However I don't own a Dahon, and the diameter of my seat post is 28.6 mm. I was thinking of a future upgrade, and yes, the new seatpost should be longer than 400 mm.

Those are the SKS Dahon fenders. They came with the bike.

The rack bag is a Topeak DXP bag (MTX) It does not click into the arclight rack but it has two velcros on the front and four around the sides and secures very firmly to the rack.

For the sake of riding I don't need a rack that big but I carry clothes to work and stick work materials in there from time to time. It acts like a sail somedays in windy Okinawa but I've gotten used to it.

They make the TB with a 28.6 mm. diameter.

However I've got a bike that has 27.2 mm stem. In order to swap the Thudbuster between bikes I bought the 27.2 and asked for a shim. They sell all manner of shim sizes for the Thudbuster for I think $7.50.

I expected to be charged $7.50 for the shim but they included it free with my order.

This is my third Thudbuster and I'm thinking 4.

i find they are ok, but not super ergo comfy as all that

Foldable Two

Three Thudbusters here, too. Two on Bike Friday's and one (the first one) on my Dahon Boardwalk S1. The wife really likes the one on her bike.

FYI, The one on my S1 is at MAX height because I'm 6'3" - zero problems.

I've been using the Topeak DXP too, on my MU P24, more often lately. I use it to carry my DSLR camera and some clothes for work. I further secure it with two bungie cords that go over the two pannier pockets.

Took a quick ride yesterday and where I had said before that I didn't think that the Speed P8 doesn't need a Thudbuster.........Well technically I'm still right. It doesn't NEED one but mine is staying.

We have a patch of road here that is basically overheated asphalt, bumpy as all get out for about 75'. I took it yesterday with the Thudbuster and while my forearms got that buzz in them not a peep coming up through the seatpost and saddle.

The Thudbuster is a marvel if you ask me.

I agree on extra security for the DXP bag if you've got a DSLR in there but I feel pretty confident riding around with just the velcro straps. I also strap mine down when I put a DSLR or some of my test equipment from work in there.

gents, thanks for the feedback on the Topeak bag. Currently I have removed my arclight rack, but I'm still shopping around for that perfect "trunk bag" that won't have heel strike. Sounds like this bag is a good size for this bike and the arclight rack.

actually on the arclight I get a little heel strike unless I pull it as far back as I can. Turning it around backwards does the trick too but when I turn it around backwards my seat post mounted light makes it hard to open the top. Not impossible just hard.

I can't get my light mounted on the arclight rack.

HI. I have a speed P8 and tonight bought 2 Vitesse D7's for the family (only 3 of us). Plan to upgrade all to touring bikes with front derailleur etc. Anyway, was wondering if the tb LT would move at all with the hardest polymer combination. Basically, I don't want to be bouncing up and down all the time, or should I say arcing around the curve. The susp. seat post on my mtb (hard tail obv) is quite hard and I enjoy that it doesn't move when normal riding but saves your spine when hitting a bump. So here a bit of striction is enjoyed. Open minded if the tb feels quite different as I'll get used to it, but don't want floppy. Advice and experiences please. Thanks - Derrick
