Dahon Arclite rack dimensions?
 

Ive looked all over online and did a search here...but i cannot find the dimensions of the Dahon Arclite rack.

I am purchasing a mini folding storage crate that i want to strap to the rack, instead of a trunk bag...and havent received my new Dahon yet.

Could someone please let me know how long and wide the usable top rack space is so i know which size folding storage crate to buy?

From looking at the video that rack appears to use the same mounting as the racks on my Boardwalks do. The rack platform flat area on them is 5 inches wide by between 11 and 12 inches long front to back. The only difference I see in the racks is the material made from. Steel on the Boardwalks versus aluminum in the video. Roger

Thanks so much!!! That is exactly what i needed. Just an estimate so i know which size little folding storage crate to buy. I prefer wire baskets and storage crates over bags.

Fits in a 15" x 12" x 8" box, I know that. Shio them frequently.

The only reason I use bags is it rains here fairly often and I use the bikes for getting the mail at are Post Office. I prefer getting home with the mail instead of it blowing in the wind. Crates also work well though. Roger

I used a small front basket and it fit perfectly the long way. The basket nestled in right where the rack curves up. Made for a nice slim profile/footprint. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough space for grocery shopping so I switched to a regular sized milk crate. The crate sits on top of the curves and has to bungee-cord to the hilt to keep it from moving too much. I wish the Dahon rack was completely flat.

I've always liked the look of the thinner tubing in the boardwalk.

The only happy bike is a bike that gets ridden.

The Boardwalks were $65 for the first one and $0 for the second. Both had broken Twist Grip style shifters. Both have had the drive trains up graded because of that to 7 speeds with trigger shifters. Shimano deraileurs with SunRace shifters and freewheels. Original seat posts were aluminum but you are right they were heavier. Generally I ride Brooks and buy used ones when I can. I am going to try a Rivet saddle on one this year. Only difference on them right now is one has Kenda 20 x 1.75 tires and the other has Kenda Kwest 20 x 1.50s. The smaller tires are higher pressure than the big ones are. Bought the first one in May last year and have almost 500 miles on the 2 right now. 3 inchs of snow on the ground right now so it will be about a month before I start riding them again. Roger
