Advice needed for Hasa F2, 16 speed

I've been looking at buying my first folding bike, but being 6' 1'', fit is the problem. I do a lot of touring, but the main airline I fly with (Jetstar) is charging an extra $25 for items over 1000mm, each way. It's a new charge and over time it'll add up, this year I've booked two flights into Indonesia and it's already cost me $100 over what I'd normally pay. Eventually I'll probably get a Bike Friday NWT, but want to experience a few cheapies first. For long tours I'll still use the Hasa Mtb or Cannondale touring bike, but for a few days to a week or two, the folding bike might rule.

The Ten Node D8 seems to hit the sweet spot but they cost $1200 Aud, whereas the Hasa F2 costs $550 Aud. Has anyone had experience with this bike.

I have no experience with this bike has concerns.
1. Being a side folder will it even fit in most suitcases? Might be too wide.
2. Being an aluminum side folder; will it fatigue break like all those Terns did?

I have seen pics of ppl touring with that Hasa, perhaps on their website. With a trailer suitcase I think. Was a good while ago.

While I have a reasonable amount of touring experience with folders, I would not recommend it to you in particular. You say that you will eventually get a BF NWT; I thinks it would be better to get one now. This might be hard or impossible, I realise. But to customise the Hasa, which I believe to be a good bike, will cost you money on top of the purchase price. The frame is likely to be medium size so a very long stem is needed at the top of the post.

The Hasa is not likely to have a good resale value.

Thanks for your thoughts,

1. I was thinking of carting the bike in a box or Ikea bag, I always cart the Mtb in a soft case.
2. The only gauge of strength I can use is my Hasa Mtb has copped a beating, so hopefully the folder is as strong.
