Very, very nice. Way out of my league, though ;)
|
Thanks! I actually scored a good deal on the bike itself so I can somehow (in my mind!) justify the extra bits... To be honest, the best improvement were the grips... The ride is super comfortable now too with the Ti seatpost.

Very nice bike, great choices for upgrades! Plugging the carrier block holes would require the screw in inserts which come with Brompton not sold with the block attached. Might ask your dealer for some. You could see if some sort of black rubber plugs would work. I would not go the permanent route, one day you might decide to use this very useful feature! |

Yeah, I definitely don't want a permanent solution. I ordered some short bottle cage bolts so hopefully that'll work. The regular ones fit but are too long... A fried suggested super-short bolts in the same size... I'll post my results soon. |
Just ordered the Joseph Kuosac super-firm suspension block... I think it'll balance out with the Ti seatpost. Will post a review of that once I get it...

OK, so I ordered these little oil slick color bolts (to match the oil slick Ergon grips) and they fit perfectly...
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5348017d8.jpeg Also installed the Joseph Kuosac firm suspension block and I'm happy to say the bobbing is gone. Works great with the titanium seatpost... https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f7c2deccc.jpeg Next, I am removing the crappy Brompton bell and installing a Spurcycle one... |
Forgot to add that I also purchased the Brompton metro zip pouch (see below) and it can be mounted facing the rider and still allows the bike to be folded with the bag on... It's big enough for wallet, phone, keys and small snacks (like an energy bar). It even has a magnet at the base so the bag doesn't rattle on the bike.

My block has firm written on it but at 130#, not any bobbing going on. My main concern is the movement of the block and catch. When I lift it up, there is noticeable play in there. Your Brompton looks smashing! |

Where did you order the JK stuff from? I want to drool for awhile!

My original one was pretty loose on there. |

pricing might be reasonable but I heard shipping is crazy from Canada... Thanks for the site! Seems to me that a space might take up the slack. I’ll give both your suggestion a try as well. It hasn’t accidentally released at all so I know it works. Just not sure on the amount of play it’s suppose to have. |

I see that now. Easy to reach that number and still get some bargains!

Got this:
https://www.spurcycle.com/products/s...2-compact-bell It fits perfectly up against the right grip and takes up very little real estate on the bars. Sounds WAY better than the stock bell (which I removed from the brake lever). |
Question for you experts out there: Is there a 2-speed shifter upgrade out there? I really don't like the feel of the cheap Brompton one... Thanks in advance.

Photo of the Spurcycle bell
As you can see, it sits right up against the brake clamp... Honestly, one of the best (and cheapest) upgrades.

That's quite a Brompton journey you went on since this thread started! I dig your Graphite 2-speed ti with all the mods, it's got a really cool "just what you need and no more" vibe.
My reread of the thread tells me I was into the looks and lightness of the CHPT3, but leaned towards the Black Lacquer as the one I'd buy for fenders and higher bars. Well now I can have both! I'm getting a Red Rocket/Black Edition H6L-X ti model tomorrow! |

Here's my Rocket Red/Black Edition H6L-X with Gilles Berthoud ti saddle. Sorry about the glare, that red powdercoat is really shiney.

I am loving your bike and have got a lot of instant jealousy! I am definitely going to get one of these bells as, like you said, the stock one is rubbish. I can't decide on this one or the original spurcycle bell though - how come you picked this version? |
