Folder advice

I would like to 'upgrade' to a folding bike for touring
currently I'm on my old 2011 fuji absolute 4.0 (700c wheels) using a planet bike rear rack, nashbar front rack and nashbar front/rear panniers and would transfer it all over to the new ride. I am 6'-5"ish tall, me and all my stuff totals about 250-260lbs (fact is I've spent the last 3 years upgrading my gear to light weight and compact FOR touring and backpacking)

I would like to go the folding route for shipping (train/bus/flights/etc) but would like to stay with the larger wheels if possible (26"?)

any good candidates out there?
amazon has this Dehon

I was also thinking the paratrooper express.

Have you considered a break-away or S&S frame?

I think you'll find that folding bikes with wheels bigger that ISO451 don't offer substantial volume advantages when folded. Caveat emptor.

Most folding bikes are not rated to take as much weight as you desire. Caveat emptor.

You may wish to look into separable bikes such as the steel 26"-wheel Surly Traveller's Check, or better yet, a World Troller (their 26" world touring bike, the Troll, with couplers).

you may also look at a Dahon Cadenza which may (or may not) be rated for higher weight due to itd trafitional downtube/top tube geometry. It folds.

Go with a Bike Friday New World Tourist..You won't be disappointed..Plenty on Ebay also..With the front and rear racks and a Carradice saddlebag plus bar bag you can take more than you need for touring..Even consider a trailer ..
If you want something that folds quickly so you can go from a bus or coach to a train or taxi look at a Dahon Speed P8..will do the job ..If you can get one with a front braze on for a double chainwheel so much the better..If not fit a 42 tooth one..No real high gears but low enough..Speed P8 will be considerably cheaper than a Bike Friday..
You can tour quite well on a Brompton if you wish..especially with a Burley trailer..

Some of those I haven't heard of...I'll go look them up and see if there are dealers near me so I can take a look.
