How about this, I will trade you a 58T crank set for the 60T that you have. I will pay the shipping both ways. I feel bad that I mislead you, but it wasn't intentional. We always want to have happy customers.

What will you do with it? I'd send it if you can find a way to use it. Then I feel guilty about it myself,...

Ok, sounds good to me. I'm picking up the chainring from my bike shop tomorrow, so I'll send it to you by the weekend. Just send me info on where to ship it to you. And thanks,...

Ok, I received the crankset w/58t chainring from Paul at Origami Bicycles, and it fits perfectly. The secret is the crankset places the chainring further back, closer to the frame. This keeps the chain from rubbing the frame. Very nice indeed,... The new setup is 130 BCD BTW,...

This is at the LIRR station in Jamaica, Queens, NY, USA,...

PS: I'm sending Paul the chainring I purchased originally,...he has plans for it. THANKS FOR THE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIGAMI@!@!!

PPS: The pedals still suck!!! LOL!!!

Hi Paul,
I know there is a reason for everything ...,
I was thinking of buying two Wasp bikes, *BUT* noticed the price went up from $228 (July) to $309(!)(current) .... Okay, *BUT* *EVERY* other Origami bike (except the eBike) is on sale ...
Will the Wasp bike also go (back) on sale soon?
Thank you.

Ask Origami as they would know. I do not think we have a member who is a dealer. Let us know what you find. Roger

Pingis (aka Paul) posted in this thread. I believe he is the owner/officer/agent of Origami.
. Yes, I could have emailed Origami directly, but thought it was of general interest to the folding bike community, if only for the pricing anomaly (pricing was mentioned in the first post by tds101). I just asked, understanding there might be a reason ...

A 25% duty on new orders would be a reason.

New bike prices will have to increase to accommodate the additional cost.

Thanks
Yan

Thanks all,
. I posted in this thread, because it seemed appropriate with the initial spirt of the thread ...
. Yan, thank you, I understand that 25% duty will be imposed (on imports, landing ... (not so simple, I know)) in January ... 10% presently.
Possibly, there is no Wasp stock in the US until after 1 Jan (no problem) ... but all other Origami stock is in country, and discounted on the website.
. On two bikes, the difference is $160 US over tds101's posted price. I know prices fluctuate, *but* I am trying to understand if there is an actual reason (maybe not my business ...), or if it was an error on the Origami site.
. Pinigis has posted on this thread before, and also on BF in general, ... I was looking for a response from him. Again, it seemed like an appropriate question within the content (and spirit) of the thread.
. tds101, I was interested on building similar Wasps to yours. Thank you for the thread.

I thought your question was okay but also thought you would get a more correct answer quicker by going to the source. Paul (Pingis) can be contacted directly through the forum. Anything the rest of us would give for an answer would be speculation. Roger

The $228 price was a temporary sale in the summer to move some inventory quickly, then we reverted back to the original price. If you email me, I will honor the old sale price for you.

I'm soon about to order a Shimano 11-28 rear cassette to upgrade the top end speed. The current rear stock cassette is 14-28. It'll be a nice upgrade for when I start riding again soon. It turns out that I need a nice, slower bike to ride once my knee heals from my surgery. I'm so glad I have my Wasp!

It looks like I will be getting my Crane 8 in tomorrow, so I am interested in hearing how your gearing experiences go. Not expecting to need mine to be particularly quick (low enough gears are a bigger concern on paper right now for me) but I wont know until I get a chance to take it all over.

On the reverse, is it plausible to go for a smaller chainring and subsequently smaller cogs? Idle wonderings in the vein of maximizing compactness / minimizing weight (vs something practical).

I'm not concerned about weight. If you want greater hill climbing ability changing the chainring and rear cassette are the way to go. There's no reason why you can't,...

14-28 sounds more like a freewheel than a cassette. I would check what you have because a cassette is meant for a bike with a freehub fitted to the rear wheel. If you want to upgrade to a cassette you'll have to upgrade the rear wheel if a freehub rear wheel is available in that wheel size. Sunrace do some good freewheels like 13-34T that will give you a small upgrade in speed and easier hill climbing. You don't normally get any less than 13T on a freewheel because of the weaker, smaller ratcheting mechanism within the freewheel and they are normally made of more basic quality metal as freewheels are purely budget territory nowadays.

It's a freewheel. I'm swapping out the cassette,... A 7 speed compatible with my 7 speed freewheel. The part that's changed is called a "cassette". Thanks for the concern, I did my research. I almost purchased a 7 speed megarange by accident. I want top end, not bottom. My wheel is compatible with what I plan to do.
