You can still swap the chainring for something larger if you really want to add some top end.

OH NO!!! The chainring is big enough,...I'm just getting some practice playing around with this. I'll enjoy the personal challenge.

A freewheel and cassette are two different things. Many manufacturer's like to blur it and try to mislead the consumer by making you think a bike has a cassette rather than freewheel but they aren't the same.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cogset

Shimano don't make a 11-28 freewheel and if they did it likely wouldn't last long due to the smaller ratchet mechanism and pawls if you were making heavy use of the 11T cog. 13T is normally the smallest cog on a decent quality modern freewheel (Shimano/Sunrace) and I think 14T is recommended for European and American adults.

When I get the tool to remove the rear cogs I'll check it out and see exactly what's there. @Pinigis can verify also if it's threaded or not. Also, the seller is in Japan and answers questions, so I'll also be able to get info that way as well.

I have no intention of buying parts without doing research and asking questions. Relax,...

Update: the "cassette sprocket" is also available at JensonUSA. And it's compatible,...

Tds, as an aside how were the hub bearings on your Wasp? My Crane came in last evening and I thought the hubs were a bit "gritty". I did most of the assembly but there's a few things I can't do, so I'm taking it by a bike shop for a once-over (a couple spokes seem like they need to be tighter and while trying to adjust the brakes I found the rear wheel is a bit out of true).

I have yet to disassemble the wheel, so I'm not sure.

Concerning the rear "cassette sprocket", here's the nonexistent shimano component I plan on using: CS-HG41-7

Yes, there is a threaded freewheel on the Wasp.

This appears to be a spline connection, rather than threaded, and will not fit on a freewheel.

After I verified the cassette sprocket installed on the bike I purchased from you, it's actually a splined cassette sprocket. Why are the specs for the Wasp incorrect on the website then?

That's a damn good question. I have to go back to the original components list and see when the substitution took place. On the bright side, we provided something better than we promised.

Don't get confused by the splines for the freewheel removal tool. Behind that is the threads for the hub. When you see MF-TZ on a Shimano cogset it will always be a freewheel. That 'TZ' indicates a freewheel.

I got that it was a 99.9% probability that it's threaded by having @Pinigis let me know. I'm deciding on either getting the 13-28 threaded freewheel, or just doing a wheel swap instead. I have more than 1 16" wheeled bike,...lets see what I can come up with. Even with a 1 tooth difference it will increase the bikes speed a bit. Or,...maybe I'll just go igh.

Yeah, the MF-TZ21 is definitely a threaded freewheel. Going IGH would be pretty slick, though it looks like vertical dropouts so chain tensioner it is.

Yup! I have a chain tensioner on my 8 speed igh non-folding bike. My only issue is a flat or 2.

Gotta armor up the tires - Marathon Plus with Kevlar tire liner and puncture-resistant tubes XD (Slime optional)

I just need new tires,...they're kinda old. Some Schwalbe Big Apple or Big Bens will do. And I don't use slime,...I've personally never had a good experience with it.

The TZ21 is definitely a threaded freewheel. The splines that you see from the front in the photo are just for attachment of the tool to remove the gear set.

Got it! The link I posted to the DNP Epoch Freewheel is a threaded freewheel. I'm just waiting to see what I'm with. Either that, or my igh wheel swap.

Thanks pinigis!!!

I noticed. I made sure to order from Amazon, so if anything happens within the return period, I'll be able to send it back. I've never had a problem with Prime,... Hopefully this freewheel will be up to snuff!

Interested to hear how it works out; thinking about gearing mine down for pulling trailers, but I might go for a smaller chain ring instead.
