Help ID this UFO
I have this unidentified folding object, it looks similar to the early Montague bikes but those dont apear to be lugged and the seat tube clamps look slightly different. It has had a repaint, the date on the derailer is 1983. Does anyone recognize this bike?https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f79d70ccf0.jpg

Had to pull up a pic of my '92 Schwinn Montague to compare.
Yours has the concentric seat tube design like the Montague, but that's about it. Mine definitely does not have the curly lug seat tube cluster. Other than Ritchey - who still makes the BreakAway and previously licensed the concentric seat tube design to Dahon - I don't know of any other manufacturer using this design. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d08f75a1b7.jpg |
Fascinating. If no answer found here, consider also posting in the Classic & Vintage part of this forum. It is very active and has lots of knowledge on bikes from that era.

Lugs and whatnot, maybe not out of a factory .
inspired by the Montague fold design, but made by an individual . |
I'm pretty sure that's a custom frame. Interesting use of Prugnat lugs. Yes, please post this in the Classic & Vintage forum, people will like it.

Interesting use of lugs. I was trying to find evidence that it was re-worked, but it's hard to tell.
I can move the thread to C&V if the OP wants. |
