Steel alloy , It may be a choice for the needs of production, brazing with torch arrays, automated bender,
and all that .. reliable efficiency advantages .

Bike Friday uses 4130 , I think ..

Saying you use a higher value tubing , helps justify charging more,

in your higher end race type frames...

Excuse me if I missed this in the thread, I just skimmed it and didn’t seen any mention. Are these the parts sold by the ‘easyti’ brand on eBay, Raxel and/or Brompton_X?

Raxel 05-19-19 11:38 AM

I've done a major update - swapped the fork and rear frame with black ones, stem with brushed titanium one.

Hey Raxel, would you be able to send me the CAD files for the chain tensioner you designed? I want to mill my own tensioner and don't have the measurements yet.

Now I'm adding some exotic bits...

Hi Raxel, where did you get the expander cone for the quill stem. The tiparts ones do not come with bolt and the expander cone is really hard to find.

You can get one from brompton.. which is NOT recommended with stock ti fork as the expander may damage the steerer tube.

Brompton silently replaced the expander with wedge. Tiparts now sells aftermarket quill wedge too (you need to cut the handlepost tube to mount it though)

I have bought titanium clone Brompton frames twice from two different suppliers, but didn't keep any of them in the end.
In general, the quality seemed OK, but, the problem is the tolerances. One frame can't fold the stem into the 100% correct position, the other has a problem at the rear damper bracket.

I know the authentic Brompton frame could also have similar issues, but these third party stuff sometimes are unpredictable.
Or perhaps I was just unlucky?

Anyway, nice build! Impressive weight!

But I do not recommend others to follow.

Rogery 10-13-21 12:09 AM

CEBEP 11-29-21 02:32 PM

No suspension block?

Winfried 11-29-21 02:57 PM

That would be too heavy
