how to remove old-style Brompton suspension block

Does the disc with the cone on it (see second picture) twist off? Is it possible to obtain the newer style cap and the screw, as a separate item, without purchasing the elastomer? I've got one of the Imprerium Cycle aftermarket suspension blocks. (
)

yes, you should buy brompton retrofit kit.
just search those terms and you will find the correct piece of hardware.

Thank you for that link. I didn't know a retrofit was available. Your answer helped me find my way also to this instructional video for installing the rear-frame retrofit . I had been searching for "Brompton rear elastomer" and "Brompton rear suspension block"

You can also upgrade to the new style which runs a bolt through the suspension block, for the catch attached to the seat post QR to grab,

so you can lift the bike as a whole , without the rear end folding under.. yes, its retrofitable ..

Done so on my Mk 2 B. years ago..

(rotate the rubber piece and the catch will not catch, again, if you wish.. )
