What's your favorite Brompton bag?
Hey foldie fans,
I have thoroughly been enjoying my brompton. Do you have a favorite bag for the front? I am thinking of getting one. |

Years back I bought the folding basket and the Carradice bag, city folder I think. I assumed the basket would just be for shopping but I found it so handy I ended up using it for all purposes, and still do. The design has since been changed but I think the functionality is much the same.

I use T-bag that I carry as a backpack when its off the bike after I equipped it with backpack shoulder straps.

Added a front rack option (custom modified) old bag support frame..
to my Ortlieb O bag & previously bought Touring bag... With the Rack I put a messenger bag on it, then , wear the bag when I have a box to haul.. adding a bottle cage , also Ortlieb to go on the back of Ortlieb's O Bag external pocket clips .. this summer.. bottle easier to access than inside the pocket ... .... |

Then you should possibly choose one that fits your needs, not the one other people like. :) The bags are surprisingly different in practice and almost everybody seems to have his personal favorite, based on individual needs and taste. I own a bunch of Brompton bags. The three I use the most is a Carradice Stockport City Folder, the T-bag and the shopping basket. The Carradice is my daily workhorse for going to the office, the t-bag for business trips and travel and the shopping basket for shopping. Before owning the Carradice I was using an S-bag for the commute for a couple of years - as good but less good looking, slightly different regarding characteristics. It is barely used now. I also own a C bag wich I only use rarely: Too big for my normal daily trips, too small for travelling. I'd sometimes like to have a smaller bag additionally like the Barbour bag Brompton invented for a short time along with the Barbour edition bike. But with this I did not like the fasteners (too slow) and I do not like the current other smaller options from Brompton as well as from the other manufacturers that I am aware of.
Thanks everyone, especially berlinonaut. While I'd been to a few Brompton stores, it's very different to hear from a fan and from a salesman. Looking at my stuff, I have all too much stuff that had been bought "as a bargain" instead of lasting functional stuff. I have a feeling that the Brompton is something that I'll enjoy for a long time. I'm personally thinking of the Valeria Barcelona basket bag -Matt ps. the excellent Crane Suzu Bell won't work on the 2007 m6. :( However, the Crane E-ne should work perfect. |
I was fortunate that a fellow commuter gave me this older bag, but I find it perfect for traveling. The oversized rear pockets fit coffee and smoothie/drink. It holds my 15 inch laptop, lunch, and gym clothes. The pockets are perfect for transitioning to air travel as the pics show. It really makes my Vybe perfect for travel and the adapter block has held up to a 20 pound load.

Looks like the steel bag support rack I got, and then modified

I bought my Demano bag in 2013; still use it today. Made of recycled materials; waterproof by itself(no cover necessary).
Has side pockets; can be used to hold drinks. Will fit a 17 inch laptop. Have used mine on 100 mile charity rides, commuting in all kinds of weather(summer heat, rain, freezing winter), carry -on bag on flights, grocery shopping, etc. Large pizza; tiny bike - challenge accepted by 1nterceptor, on Flickr |
