Why I love my folder
 

Hey bikeforum Foldie fans,

I just had my first vacation in a long time.
I have to repost that it was 250% better with my brompton.

1. Over at Santa Cruz, there's multiple one way only lanes for cars.... with the exception of bikes.
2. Free parking.... slightly farther than one wants to walk, but convenient on bike.
3. West Cliff Drive..... impossible to find a parking spot with a car. With a folder, no prob.

I love my recently bought Strida, besides being lightweight enough so that I can actually carry it (many other folders are too heavy for me to carry) it is a cute turquoise color.

cool, looking forward to the pics. I'm in the market for a folding bike myself to take out of town go to to different places in california where i can park my car and just ride the bike. i borrowed a friend's folding bike, a 9 speed dahon folding bike and took it out to san francisco. parking in SF can be a drag. so i parked the on the west side of SF by the zoo/beach and just took out the folder and rode all over the city. it was so much fun riding a folding bike coz it was so compact and light. i definitely want to get one now. i'm hoping to do the san francisco to sausalito bike route next time with my own folder. and also take it out to santa cruz on my day trips. so many places in california where i wanna go and ride a folder.

Took our Bromptons with us on a car road trip recently from So-Cal to Santa Fee NM.

Rode them from Nevada to Arizona across the Hoover Dam....

Rode them in Holbrook Arizona, and kept the in our TeePee Motel Room at night...

Rode them along the Santa Fe trail in New Mexico.

Really added some fun, and exercise to our trip!

Next month we'll be camping in our teardrop trailer in Pismo Beach California....we'll be riding our folder around there.

Yeah, folders are a thing.

Always try to get my hands on a bike when I travel. In Holland; I borrowed a hybrid.
In Manila; I bought a new MTB(US$40). Then gave it away when I left. In Georgia;
rented a hybrid. My brother in San Diego county has a few bikes(folders & a single speed).
So most of the time I visit, I just borrow one of his and don't bring mine.

But after awhile; I decided to have folders and bring one along when I travel. :)

There's nothing like having your own bike which you know fits you like a glove. I've had some awful rental bikes in years past. I'm a hard fit anyway, but it really makes adventures special when you're so comfortable on the bike you don't even think about it, it's just a part of you. Folders are like that, yeah they are...

Agreed. Started with folders about 2.5 years ago. Been to so many cities that I can't even describe each place. Going from jogging around a downtown from the hotel to blasting out 15-20 miles to really see the area has made work travel more of an adventure than...well...work 😉

Have taken the wife with me to SanFran and Scottsdale with our folders and had a blast. Blasting down Lombard St. and over the Golden Gate, riding amongst the cacti in the desert, just really great stuff.
