Wheel upgrades
Hi all, I've been using a Carrera Intercity folding bike for a few years, and I learned about 6 months after buying it that upgrade options are very limited with these bikes.
My question is, can you replace the wheels with better models, and if so, where can I buy them from. I'm struggling to find manufacturers of 20" wheels. What few I can find seem to be targeted specifically at BMXs.

Sure thanks, I'm based in the UK so I bought it via Halfords. I can't post the URL yet but if you search on Halfords website for Carrera Intercity, you should see the full spec

If you could reach any DAHON shop or dealer, I think you will find something interesting.
Actually I am quite sure that most of 20" (406mm) 74/130 QR v-brake wheelset will fit your bike.

Thanks for the verification, I'm not seeing DAHON wheels in the online stores of my local retailers, does anyone know any UK based resellers where I can find DAHON or an alternative manufacturer selling the same spec as GTA just suggested?

I believe SJS Cycles in Somerset builds custom wheels for 20” and smaller folders - check out their website for details.
Otherwise C H Whites at foldingbikes.biz might be able to help with off the peg wheels.

Velocity makes a few 20” rims. I’ve used Aeroheat (now called Dyad) on a Raleigh Twenty I fixed up. I used Sun CR18 for a different Raleigh Twenty build. They seem to be bombproof.
