50-406 max tire on the Ascent Bolt. I run 53-406 on my folder as it is. That's too bad.

I'd look into stripping and rebuilding a Thrill Volare FX4.0 instead.

It's not a bad looking platform to build on. I bought one new for $275. The wheelset was absolutely atrocious so I dumped that and the disc brakes and cogset were clunky and heavy too. It's in my shed waiting to be rebuilt but I haven't figured out how much coin to drop on it, whether to go up-spec or down-spec, and 406 or 451.

Stripped, waiting to be rebuilt.

Something that I don't quite like is the rather long wheelbase which adds to stability, yes, but zaps agility. The frame is solid, though it got scratched in transport due to poor wrapping. It's got a Hollowtech BB and crank, a front block and a basic 1" suspension. For the price, one cannot complain. Other components, while not top of the range or close to it and not the lightest, are quite serviceable. Again, a good canvas to build upon.

I know QingXiang who is the owner of Ascent Bikes.
Got a 2 pair of wheels from him and they have been really good to the specs.
Reliable seller who stands behind the stuff he sells and never fails to look out for improvements. (he even got one of his 700c wheels UCI certified )

His bikes has been rather popular here in Singapore, but that said, I have never tried one.
From my own experiences with non folding mini velos, you can't really go wrong with most of them as long as the parts are decent.
The bonus to the Ascent are that they are well thought out, disc brakes for wider tires or narrow ones, mounting point for rear rack, light weight.

As with most bikes, there is also the consideration of rider weight.
A 55kg rider won't demand as much from a frame as a 85kg one, so this is what you need to determine yourself.
I'd suggest you join a Singapore based folding bike FB group and ask there.
I doubt you will get any answers here on a US based forum.
