Dahon Mu Uno... damaged? Help please!

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a Mu Uno from facebook Marketplace. I didn't notice notice week or so after that it's bent . The handle post looks to be bent off to the right. I tried to post a pic but I'm not allowed yet

Seller has disappeared, I'm now hoping to repair. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on the most likely culprit... forks or stem? And where to buy replacement.

Many thanks

Is the handlepost actually bent, or, is it just installed askew?

Agree with Nyah

The stem can be rotated.

A pic would help us determine if it's bent or just needs adjustment

And if it's just the stem, it's an easy fix

If you are referring to the hinge being set off at 45 degrees from center, that is the way it must be for the handlebar to fold down parallel to the bike frame.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not referring to the 45 degree angle... it looks as though the handlepost is tilted slightly to the right! If I rotate on the steerer tube of the fork so that the angle looks correct the handlebars are out of line Pretty sure it's damaged

If the handlepost needs replacement, that's not very difficult to do, assuming you have a threadless headset. Post a photo so that we can confirm your problem. Up your post-count by posting in this thread. No one will consider it spamming.

They had a problem with the clamping undercut that clamp the steerer on the fork. the undercut receiving the hinge locking slider was too sharp causing stress raiser eventually cracked. The later revised model has a rounded shallower undercut.

However, the view isn't really close enough. If you get really close to

Remove the handlepost and start looking for any signs of damage.
Is the top of the fork steerer tube bent where the handlepost clamps onto?
Does the top of the headset look mashed?
If you stand the handlepost up, with the bottom flat against a tabletop,
does it still look bent - If so, the handlepost is either damaged or
malformed to begin with. If this is the case, it's not difficult or expensive
to get a new handlepost.

You will need to open the stem, undo the clamping bolt and fork threaded cap to establish if the headset is dead or the fork steerer is bent.

Have you got close-up pictures?
Have you spoken to CH White in Malmesbury?

I'm thinking that, too, considering that the handlepost itself actually looks pretty straight in the photo.

Fork Stem is likely bent.
You check for damage on the handlebar stem too.

If you can, you'll need to unscrew the center retainer (10mm) and the 2 side compression screws (5mm?) and take a look at the fork stem.
