New model Dahon mini 349 bike
Dahon seems to have a new model called the mini 349, which looks similar to the K3 Plus, but with 349 rims, possibly deltec tension cable (website doesn't show it, but the press release has it), and eyelets for rear rack.
https://dahon.com/bikes/mini-349/ I would be curious to know the wheelbase, chainstay, seatpost angle, etc. in comparison with standard 20" models and the K3 plus. A youtube video comparing the 2 I'm suspicious of the parallel spoke nipple holes in the rim. Aren't they more susceptible to fracturing the rim, and the load distribution isn't as uniform as a standard rim? The use of 349 rim is also not so convenient as the range of available tires are more limited than compared to 355. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...49dc24d291.jpg The press release shows a seatpost stem with a pressure gauge for their built in pump. I wonder how effective it is, or wither it gets in the way of the clamping. https://dahon.com/dahon-announces-ex...ei-cycle-2023/ https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...bdc31b8a9a.jpg |

Not sure this brings anything new to the table. Litepro and FnHon have offered framesets that can be built with 349 wheels for years, in the same ilk as this 'new' Dahon bike. Here's a Gust with 349 wheels...

Not sure where in the world market you are that this would be the case.

The real limitation of 349 is that tires are not made wider than 37mm, nor forks with sufficient clearance to fit them.

I'm missing your point here, if you want to re-express it. |
As usual, another new bike from Dahon that won't be available in North America. :notamused:

FWIW, the TruBlu is marketed as a 40x349.

FnHon and Litepro didn't invent the 349 nor do they have any exclusive on it's use. Lotsa folding bike companies use ISO349 wheels/tires, and have for a half century or more. Dahon has other 349 models. Guessing they had some customer/dealer feed back for a complete, ready-to-ride model like this.

Yes, you often miss the point. I've noticed that throughout. Here, by your own admission, you did it again. Not my problem. Good luck to you.🙄

Maybe because the post is specifically about a new Dahon bike, and not constantly about another brand.

Max rider weight is 188 lbs. It would not be a good idea to make it available in the USA. We'd break them with our obesity and it would be no end of trouble for Dahon.

Good point... I'm not a lightweight by any means, even when I'm almost at my "fighting" weight! :roflmao:

I can ride it,but that's because I spend all day carrying bikes up and down stairs(the Junction is 3 floors and no elevator). Srsly,I've lost 3lbs since I started working here in Dec.

I've managed to drop about 40lbs, and I'm gunning for 20 or so more. I'll still be above the target weight. I already have a 16" folder for spring, and it's chromoly steel, so it can handle 200+ pounds. I'm just waiting for the weather to improve. It's a litepro folder... Nice, compact, but heavy little bugger.

Not available for shipping to the USA I'm afraid... Standard bi-fold for me.
I've never bought anything off AliExpress yet, but I do notice now that some items have free shipping when nothing did in the past I think, so I thought that may eventually get to Litepro, where they do bulk shipments to save on costs. |

Ah, yes, that's why I was wondering. I thought either something had changed or you had figured a hack to the system.

All I know is the 16" folder is as heavy as a boat anchor... Definitely needs a bit of a " diet"

I don't know if you mean the Litepro brompnot, or the bifold you got. If the latter, and it has rear "monostays" (either only fat chainstays or only fat seatstays) instead of a rear triangle, I think that could be a reason; It's definitely not as efficient a structure versus triangulating.
PS: LitePro has a TON of folders for sale right now (shipping in the USA): https://liteprobicycle.com/collections/litepro-bike |

I'm talking about the bi-fold I purchased, since I couldn't possibly have firsthand knowledge of the LitePro tri-fold if I couldn't purchase it...

Well in addition to the bifolds in the lower half of the page, the upper half of the page is filled with trifolds at good prices:eek:, I don't know if they ship to USA and shipping cost if they do:

That's false advertising. If you click on the bike photo or the SELECT OPTIONS button, it takes us to a screen where the price is $990.
If you click the text LITEPRO OFFICIAL STORE, it takes us to a storefront with nothing to do with that bike. That does not fill me with confidence on LITEPRO... |
