Are Primo Comets no more?

I've had my Primo Comets since well before the pandemic, and they now seem to have disappeared from the interwebs. Are they gone forever, and, if so, can anyone recommend a comparable tire in the 451 1 3/8" size?

This place still has them relatively cheap. I used to use them all the time, too. Years ago they were relatively cheap, but then they seemed for me not worth it as the price came up given the short time I could ride them before I would get punctures all the time. They did ride nice. I am riding Conti's now and happy with them so far.

I just noticed you are looking for 451. I don't know that they were available. When I rode 451 I was riding Paselas.

At recent bike swaps I've seen several high-pressure 406s available but very few 451s. I have 406s on my Bike Friday and a 451 on the front of my recumbent, where I've been running a Kenda Kwest for 6 years and 1700+ miles. Last year after one of the Schwalbes went kaboom, I switched the Bike Friday over to Kwests as well. The sidewalls on the Kwests are thicker than the Comets, but I'm satisfied with the ride quality and speed.

Yes, there are some choices in 1 1/8" (28mm) and narrower. It's the 1 3/8" that are getting hard to find, except for the heavier tires geared toward BMX.

Carson City Bike Shop does carry them but shows them as out of stock. You could ask them if they expect more to come in.

Be careful with the Vee Tire Co Speedster, its originaly a BMX tire and most sizes have only 27TPI (I do not see this 37x451 with 90TPI on the website of Vee Tire Co) !

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now I'm leaning toward the IRC Siren Comp, a lighter, folding BMX tire, $21.74 on AliExpress. Either that or just waiting for the Comets to fall off my rims.

😂😂😂
You should know that people around these parts turn their nose up at all manner of components for reasons of fear, prejudice and parochialism. If it's not regulated by the EU Parliament, doesn't come under the jurisdiction of EU courts, carry an ironclad warranty, cost an arm and a leg or it's not featured on some slick website, it's no good. 🤡

BMX tires is one of those unspeakable abominations among the experts of this channel. See the earlier response, for example. Par for the sad course.

I, myself, pay little attention to the marketing categories, and base my judgement on actual performance in use and on value. But that's just me. That mileage can vary hugely here so caveat emptor. Enjoy the new tires.
