Japan-market Dahon

So while in Osaka I popped in to a bike store specializing in small wheel bikes, folding and non folding, and saw a couple of rare Dahon bikes. By rare I mean Japan-market 🗾 market specific that we don't have in Indonesia. One is the Dahon D-Zero, a 16" non-folding minivelo for 16" (ETRTO305) wheels with the same form factor as the early, classic Dahon folders. $525 brings it home.

I also saw a Dahon Calm which is a non-folding Dash with threaded headset and quill stem...

Saw a Clinch too. The shop also carries other run of the mill Dahons like the K3, Horize, Speed Falco, Dove and Boardwalk.

...as an aficionado of quirky 16" (ETRTO 305) bikes, I confess to a soft spot for the D-Zero, fundamentally a 16" minivelo.

Yet another reason to love Japan.

Loving Japan…

Thanks for the exotic peek through the window of what’s out of reach for most of us!

Enjoyed growing up there for many years. Did you bring the Dahon home with you?

You are very fortunate. Japan really is something else.

I am still in Osaka, but no I haven't pulled the trigger yet. And i don't think I will. Though I like to build and reconfigure bikes, the D-Zero's freewheel wheelset turns me off as I'd have to buy and replace it with a freehub wheelset...
