need a mini-pump recommendation
 

Any recommendations for a good mini-pump? I was planning to use a Topeak Road Morph, but don't have a good location to mount it on my Bike Friday... all of the obvious spots either have other fixtures in the way, or the pump would interfere with folding.

I have a KHS I managed to find a spot on for the Topeak Morph. (Turbo w/gauge, specifically).
It's on the "stem" between headtube and handlebar. (don't know if that's really the appropriate term but it's the long tube below the "stem" proper)

With some tweaking, I found a way to position it so it doesn't interfere with the fold.
I had to loosen the clip that's held to the barrel of the pump and slide the clip up. By default, it's about at the halfway point - it's about 1/3 from the top on mine now.

I tried all kinds of other pumps - once you try the Morph, it's tough to go back.

If you want an ultra lightweight, very small pump, get the Barbieri CarbOne Carbon Mini Pump. It comes with clips that allow you to mount it along side your water bottle. It works pretty well too considering its small size.

I was finally able to get the Road Morph mounted below the seat, so it looks like it will work out after all. :) It was a bit tricky to get positioned just right, but seems to be clearing everything... I guess time will tell.

The Road Morph is a very good pump. I keep a Crank Bros mini pump zip-tied on my NWT stem; it is smaller than the Road Morph and has its own clamshell-type cover that also ties to the bike.

I've got a CrankBrothers PowerPump, and I don't even have to mount the thing...it fits in the wedge. There's also one that has a pressure gauge built in.

- Presta/Schrader dual head
- Pump for high volume or high pressure
- Goes up to 100 psi/7bar
- Weighs about 93g

My only gripe is that it's nearly impossible for a regular person to get the pressure up to 100psi. My BF tested it and practically burst a blood vessel getting to 90. I'd probably be lucky to get it to 60 or 70.

I look at it as a last resort in case I have a blow-out beyond walking distance of a gas station. Depending on what pressure you need, you may not end up breaking any speed records, but at least you won't be riding on your rims.

(Note to self: Pick up some Presta/Schrader converters, a pressure gauge, and something to hold some quarters.)

I have the same pump or a very similar model from Crank Bros. I'm a guy, I'm no weight lifter but I'm not weak. It's a huge PITA to get a reasonable pressure with that thing. It's nice to have a gauge built in and two heads for the different valve types, but it's not nice to have my toned arm fall off to get going again. :D I recently picked-up a mini-pump / CO2 trigger inflater combo which I will road test next time I get a flat (naturally I will have a back-up until I feel good with the new thing). Anyhow, the thing is tiny enough to fit in a jersy pocket, which is handy because my SpeedPro lacks waterbottle braze-ons. I have to wonder about the pumping capacity -- spec says 90psi IIRC, which is very rideable, but again, the arm... let's hope I don't run out of cartridges). It's the "Second Wind IH" model.
