20 inch rims
Hello
I am looking for a source of 20 inch rims for my folding bicycle (made in Russia, probably late 70?s or early 80's, comming soon to this forum ) either for 28 spokes, 24 sopkes or 20 spokes. I haven't found any so far, so I am asking your help on this issue, please?

Hi there - do you know what size of 20" they are? There are usually two types - at least for US/European bikes - the 406mm size (most common on modern and bmx bikes) or the larger 451 size (common on older 'shopping' type bikes and modern recumbents/some bike fridays).
It may be that a Russian bike has another 20 size again - not something I know but a hunch - but I guess you will be able to tell by the numbers that are moulded onto the existing tyres.
Good places I know of in the UK and Europe that sell good 20" rims are as follows:
St John Street Cycles (UK)
Scroll down to 'rims' and choose your size. This is the only place I know of for cheap 451 rims in the UK on the web
Kinetics
Based in Glasgow, Scotland - Mid to High-end wheels for recumbents and folders.
But perhaps the best I've found - in the last week is:
RecumbentParts.com - Based in the Netherlands with a big variety of 20 wheels.
It's worth noting that pretty much all BMX stores stock 406 rims but most modern BMX wheels have a fatter axle (14m), that won't fit in old dropouts as well as oversized rims that don't fit skinnier road tyres that well (and weigh a ton) as well as coming only in 36 or 48 spoke varieties. Local bike shops can probably also source no-name aluminium rims as they are a staple on kids bikes - I guess it's worth asking!
Hope that's some help!

Guys
Thank you for the answers, give me a couple of hours and I will post a link to the pictures. The wheels are 406 mm but 47 mm width and the rims very rude manufacture and finish. The thickness of the aluminium is about 3 mm!

I suppose that I have found the wheels I am looking for. The wheels I will try to buy are Bontrager used in folding Trek bicycles F600.
