Are you tall and do you ride a R20 folder?
Are you tall (6' 2" and up) and do you ride a R20 folder? What problems have you encountered, and how were thay solved? Is it worth lengthening the cross bar?

I'm 6' 1" and have no problems riding my Raleigh Twenty. I did get an long seatpost from Harris Cyclery

6' 0" and built my own telescoping seat post and special stem for my Twenty. Roger

At 5'5" I don't think I qualify but can offer that the thing along with a long seatpost you need is a stem to increase the reach between bars and seatpost. Left stock, the 'cockpit' as some people call it is a little short and you may find that the bars get a little close to your knees on tighter turns.

Twenty fork replacement?
I too am re-building a Twenty! I had seen your site and wondered how you managed to get a 20" suspension fork *with* a long 1" steerer tube?
20" suspension fork is hard enough. I mangaged to get an SR Suntour M6200 from ebay (NOS) for $15, but it only has a 150mm steerer. I considered cutting the 20's headtube to s stock size, but that just leaves the problem of finding a very long stem...... I've ordered a 3ft piece of 1" chro moly steel tube, in the hopes that I can either get someone to weld it on as an extension, or just replace the whole steerer. Does anybody know how th steerer tube is attached to the fork crown? Is it just pressed in? thanks, John |

Of course this means you would have to use the original headset. I myself added a steerer extender and used a "tarik device" pvc spacer with an ahead headset. My brother happens to be a machinist, so when he has some spare time he has promised me he would fabricate an aluminum steerer extender that I could clamp right onto the top of my fork's steerer. This would allow me to ditch the PVC spacer for a much cleaner look, while giving my steerer more length, BTW, I'm 6' and I have plenty of cockpit space on my twenty. In fact the handlebar height would be just fine if it wasn't for my really bad back, Juan |
I'm 6'1" and I just ride it without full leg extension. If I want full leg extension, I stand on the pedals.
