I just saw this bike in NYC CL via my RSS reader... by the time I clicked through to the original CL ad, it was deleted. I wonder who snatched this one up?
Bike that folds (Gramercy) $175 I wouldn't mind a 'Prompton' for $175!!!My son has left NYC to practice medicine overseas!! Unfortuniately, he left a lot of useless items in our apartment. My husband and myself need the room!! I understand that this is a bike that is English in design, and apparently folds up. I think it is called a Prompton Folding Bicycle. I'm not sure how to get it to look like a regular bike, but I guess with a little work, it does. I believe my son bought this bike 2 or 3 years ago. It is a very pleasant colour of green. Looking for a quick sale. Thank You |

Regarding the "Prompton" in NYC, I e-mailed the seller this morning and made it before the ad got deleted. I didn't get a response. :(

Ummm......, does this mean you're not going to bid on it and then fly over here to pick it up? :D
 No - I think I might just struggle with myself and resist the temptation. Of course, if I weaken, there will be another along soon enough - 2045 maybe, when I'm long dead - hopefully. |

"It was designed by an engineer in the aerospace industry in England that wanted a folding bike that didn't look like one (circa 1980's - early 90's)." I would have guessed Japanese origins, myself. |

Oh, and one more thing - I wanted to point out that the answer to your rhetorical question is in the Craigslist ad:

That's a national disgrace. I must go and hang myself. Ugghhhcccchhhhhhhhhthhhhhhhhhh ccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuurrrh |
