Dahon Speed D7 or Dahon Vitesse D7 (2007) ?

I decided to buy a folding bike, and after some searching two choices survived Dahon Speed D7 (2006) or the Dahon Vitesse D7 (2007). Now, the first choice it's cheaper, but I wouldn't mind to give some extra cash for the Vitesse D7 (2007) if its really worth it. Now, the reasons why I want a folding bike are:

* I need a light bike ( I live in the 3th floor, no elevator, lots of stairs)
* A compact bike to go around town that can survive to this city high pavements
* Folded to fit in the bus ( I take the bus and train almost every day), and at my small apartment.

So... What do you think? Speed D7 or Vitesse D7 ? Thanks in advance

(By the way, it's my first post here )

Sounds like you might be better served by the Dahon Curve or the Downtube Mini. Both are much more compact due to the 16 inch wheels (the above mentioned have 20 inch wheels)

Yeah, i also tought about 16 inch wheels, but because of the high sidewalks here i dont think its the best option. I already tryed a 20 inch bike and i think it has a good size.

Hello Makubex and Welcome!

Let's briefly compare the two bikes in the weight and component group areas:

Both fall into the Deluxe component group catagory: https://www.dahon.com/components/deluxe.htm

The use of alumimun in the frame seems to have an impact on it's overall weight: Speed 7: 12.1 Kg. or 26.6 lbs. and the Vitesse: 11.3 Kg or 24.9 lbs. The rest of your needs would probably be served by either one allowing for price and perfomance concerns-do test ride both out if you can before you buy-making sure to carry it about both folded and unfolded to see it either is better to carry in a particular position. So you would do a bit better with a weight savings of even a couple of pounds or Kgs. will be noticeable by using a lighter bike since you will be lugging it up stairs on the bus or to your flat.
