(Can I ask where you got your Aeroheat rims from?) H :) I got them from directly from Velocity, for the princely sum of $148 AUS, which cost me £58 (including P+P). Bargain!:) Though I did see recently that somewhere in the UK is importing full-size velocity rims, but you never know, they may also chuck in some 'proper' size rims too!;) http://53-12.com/bike/bike_index.htm I haven't had any dealings with this shop, so take care. |

And what is the gearing set up on Goldie? The gearing setup is a 14-28 shimano freewheel, on a Sturmey Archer hub forced into to the re-spaced rear triangle. It has seven speeds, but the smallest cog is too close to the frame to use, so I only have the option of six speeds. The derailleur is then held on using a bolt-on hanger. It looks a bit like this, though the freewheel has been updated since that photo. And yes, that is an XT deraileur!:D |

If you are publicly pondering selling, so what if someone makes an offer to buy? That is all part of sizing up your situation. An offer is what you want, not a sign of "greed" as another poster remarked (a sad testament to benighted cluelessness, if you think about it.) What you have looks very nice and should get you a good price if you sell. Good luck with your decision. And remember, even if sometime down the road you decide you want another Brompton, there will be others to buy and modify, if you want. It also has been receiving a lot of my obsessive modification tendencies, so it's not as though I am giving up. It's just that I am now on a different path, and still pedaling away...:) I may even put the money I get towards another trike... maybe a Greenspeed... with a Rohloff... or a Speed drive... Mmmm... :D |

I see you got a reasonable sale price. You'll never get what you paid for the parts but it's nice to get a rebate to pump into other projects yes?
Thanks for the rim link - they're friendly and responsive over email and have added a pair of black machined ones (mmm!) to their next order so I'm a happy bunny looking forward to that delivery! 16RadiallySpokedPantourAnodisedVelocityAeroGoodness™ Yes! (If only they came in the same colours as the now ubiquitous Veloctiy 700c Deep V. I'd *love* some red ones to go with the old-skool fireengine red frame.) |
Hi LittlePixel,
I'm glad the link worked out for you. I'm also quite pleased to see the Brompton sold. Now I don't have to feel so sad that I can't ride it, and frustrated by the amount I had spent on it. Good Luck with your project. I look forward to seeing how it develops. |
