Brompton rear hub gears: SRAM vs. Sturmey Archer
For rear hub gears, am I correct that the Bromptons come with either the "SRAM" or the "Sturmey Archer"?
Why two different ones? What's the difference between them? Is one better than the other?
I believe I have the SRAM (see pics below). Looking at the rear wheel, the hub on my B says, "SACHS 3 SPEED". The small box leading to the teency-tiny chain that goes into the hub says "SRAM T3" on it.
By the way, is it just me, or does the ratchet-sounding clicky-ness coming from the rear hub sound just a bit louder than what you'd expect? Even while pedaling it seems like it ought to be a bit quieter than it is. Anyone else noticed this?

Three speed models have SA/Sturmey Archer, while six speed models have SRAM. Lots of B info at: https://groups.yahoo.com/group/BromptonTalk/
