Recumbents are specialty items, and typically start around $2k anyway. I guess $1200 or so more for CF and a Schlumpf sounds about right.

There is an upright on the page too. It looks like a titanium Montague folding bike. Or I should say that the folding mechanism is similar.

Recumbants start around $500. One could argue that for "something decent", they start at around $1200.

I'm thinking of getting one instead of a "proper" road bike.

Since BikeFriday discontinued their folding bent, I guess they have nothing to worry about. Is there any bicycle manufacturer worried about this bike?

I'd have to say, everything is just about perfect on that bike, down to the chain. Of course, it would mean moving somewhere where I could actually use a recumbant and then mortgaging.

Invisiblehand, that bike caught my attention, too. I'd be that guy could do a custom design on a 406 or 349 bike. As it is, it looks like the wheel has to come off for a decent fold. I played with a lot of drawings before discovering an existing bike that worked, so maybe one day when we return to developing nation status and labor is cheap...

I agree with your assessment of the Nobilette (?sp?). Sort of reminds me of the Airnimal regarding the need to remove the front wheel to fold and its folded size. Although I suspect that one would have a devil of a time trying to get the bike into a flight legal case. Presumably one would have to purchase one of those S&S Coupler cases.
